Vai alla versione italiana...
CyeLoFi is not a SkyFi clone ((Southern Stars SkyFi)) it is an indipendent project with additional functionality but at a more affordable price and with an open software onboard then expandable, hackable and always up to date.
CyeLoFi can interface your GOTO mount (Celestron, Meade, SkyWatcher, iOptron and more) with your tablet or smartphone running an appropiate app like SkySafari.
No matter if your controller is equipped with a classic RS-232 or an USB port, don't worry if your software doesn't support Bluetooth or your Android device doesn't implement ad-hoc WiFi: CyeLoFi has a solution to all this common issues and if you have a very special setup it can be easly adapted to your needs.
CyeLoFi is the acronym of Cyelo (sound like cielo, sky in italian) Low Fidelity... a parody of the original SkyFi!
The selected hardware is originally a TP-LINK router that run 3G dongles to create domestic network via WiFi or cabled Ethernet. The model MR3020, in particular, has all that we need to implement our project: USB, WiFi, enough CPU and RAM to support OpenWRT (the Linux distribution ideal for this kind of embedded projects).
The TP-MR3020 looks like a small and light box well done and nice to see, that well suit CyeLoFi project needs. It is powered by a mini USB (standard 5V) and has an Ethernet port useful in setup phase and to accomplish every kind of fixed setup. The first prototype made on this hardware had been tested for many hour and with different types of mounts without encounter problems derived from the device. To make it possible for everyone to use CyeLoFi, I made a complete and intuitive Web interface for mobile devices through which it is possible to configure every aspect of the operations.
[stextbox id="evolve"]In the next few weeks, I will publish all the informations to buy a pre-hacked CyeLoFi with and without battery and all the news regarding hardware compatibility and customer support.[/stextbox]
